To briefly comment on this video of some Schoenberg piano music, his later recanting to more tonal tendencies and character is an interesting area to consider. What is often realized of those and his earliest works, and yet often overlooked or neglected of his atonality, is a distinct lyricism that set him apart from more radical composers and even some of his own students, most notably Webern. The piano pieces here serve as a testament to the lyricism that seems to span his various compositional periods.
