An earlier work from Schumann, this is the Arabesque in C major, Op. 18. The nature of this piece is somewhat different from what some might expect from an arabesque, as we have come to expect something in the vein of Scheherezade or the famous Arabesque by Debussy, possibly even the arabesque from The Nutcracker.
